TRUCKOMAN’s core activity is transporting land-based drilling rigs between sites and across international borders.

Each rig move requires careful planning by the Rig Move Managers and Supervisors. This ensures that proper hazard and effect management programmes are put in place and communicated to everyone prior to the start of the move. Sufficiently trained, qualified and experienced personnel, along with the necessary resources, are assigned to each job to ensure that it is managed safely and efficiently.

Our system to analyse each job or task is a process that identifies the hazards associated with the work and is a way of eliminating those hazards.  In the case where hazards cannot be eliminated then controls or corrective measures are implemented. Provisions are made for:

  • Location/Road Surveys
  • Rig-Moving Vehicles
  • Craneage
  • Fuel Tankers
  • Hazardous Loads
  • Fork Lifts
  • Personnel Vehicles
  • Repair Facilities
  • Supervisory Staff
  • Communication
  • Emergency Response
  • Escorts

During rig moves, TRUCKOMAN appoints a senior supervisor at both the old and new locations to ensure the safe loading and unloading of vehicles. These supervisors are in radio contact with each other so that information on awkward loads or special handling precautions can be communicated. Any road or load safety matters are addressed and included in the drilling tender and contract documents. ROP (Royal Oman Police) escorts may be required for traffic control. In populated areas there may be local rules and regulations which should be observed. Following a rig move, a report is made to provide an analysis of key aspects of the move.
